Introduction

This course provides required training to participants involved with shipping Dangerous Goods by Air, by Ground and by Vessel. Dangerous Goods by Air training is based on the requirements outlined in Title 49, Code of Federal Regulations, International Air Transport Association (IATA) Dangerous Goods Regulations and the International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO) Technical Instructions. Hazardous Materials training is based on the requirements outlined in the United States Title 49, Code of Federal Regulations (49 CFR). Dangerous Goods by Vessel training is based on the requirements outlined in Title 49, Code of Federal Regulations (49 CFR) and the International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code (IMDG). Avoid fines, penalties, and shipment delays by completing your training as soon as possible.

  • Properly classify substances and articles to their proper hazard class.
  • Assign substances and articles to an appropriate proper shipping name.
  • Select the correct packaging for the Dangerous Goods being shipped.
  • Select and apply the correct markings and labeling for the material being shipped.
  • Correctly complete a Shipper’s Declaration for Dangerous Goods and Air Waybill for the Dangerous Good(s) being shipped by Air.
  • Correctly complete the shipping paper required for the transport of Hazardous Materials by Ground.
  • Correctly complete the transport document as outlined in the IMDG.
  • Understand the requirements for security and emergency response as they relate to shipments of Dangerous Goods.
  • Understand the requirements for training as required by the appropriate national authorities.

The Bureau of Dangerous Goods on-site training classes are taught by recognized professionals whose emphasis is on safety and compliance with the Regulations.

Our training staff will work with your company or corporation of any size to design and administer a specialized, custom curriculum for training employees with up-to-date regulatory information in the form of lecture, comprehensive handouts, instructive question-and-answer sessions, and hands-on practice exercises. This all culminates with a comprehensive examination at the end of the course testing the regulatory knowledge of each student. All students who successfully complete the course will receive a Certificate of Training which complies with IATA Section 1.5 and/or U.S. Title 49 CFR 172.700 Subpart H for training.
